Another update containing a few improvements and corrections:

  • Archive Done Tasks now reuses an existing archive instead of creating a new one every time. The first time you archive tasks in a list, Notebooks creates a document “Done Tasks”; if you decide to rename it, Notebooks still recognizes it as an archive and reuses it the next time.
The action also detects done and cancelled items more reliably, and it no longer automatically deletes non editable documents, because their contents cannot be added to an archive.
  • Notebooks detects and activates the URL schemes equipdbible:// and olivetree://
Starting with iOS 9, apps like Notebooks need to declare which URLs should be highlighted and activated. We cannot know which types of links you use, so if Notebooks does not recognize your custom URLs, please let us know .
  • Fixed a sporadic crash when deleting the last done task from a task list.
  • Fixed a crash on iOS 10 caused by too many tasks with due dates.
  • Fixed a crash after moving items.
  • Addressed a few UI glitches.

What happened to the strike through button that was next to Bold, Italic, Underline on rich text documents?

Are you referring to Notebooks 8.3.4, or are you still using Notebooks 6?

If that is on an iPhone, what if you rotate it to landscape?

yes it is on an iPhone 6s…it works for landscape but it used to work on portrait also…is there anyway to get that back or to move buttons to the next screen and have strikethrough on the main toolbar?

That is strange, because on iPhone 6 and above, Notebooks is supposed to display that button in portrait mode as well; on smaller screens, however, we “sacrifice” that button in favor of dedicated indent/outdent buttons. – Are you using some type of screen zoom?

yes I am in zoomed mode instead of standard display mode…I switched the modes and that fixed it…it showed up after switching this display mode…would it be possible to have it show up in zoom mode too?

thank you for the prompt replies

Glad to see we found out why the button is not displayed. – If we showed the button in zoom mode (at reduced screen width) we would need to remove another button; making the buttons smaller is not really an option, because they already are pretty small. – We will see what we can do…

Hi, I am trying to create an archive of my notebook. It creates a zip file, but crashes when I try to open it. If I select some subfolders only it works correctly. Total size of notebook is around 300Mb. Running on iPad 4 (air), IOS 10. I’ve managed to export the zip file to GoodReader, it GoodReader cannot open it and the zip file looks pretty empty (less than (1k). Any help appreciated!

      Hi Andrew,

when you try to open an archive and Notebooks crashes, the reason most likely is a problem while reading the contents and creating the table of contents to display, maybe because the listing becomes too long. That might explain why zipping subfolders works better.
Regarding the “empty” archive: when you open that in Notebooks, does it display a table of contents? Ddo you have an option to open and view it in a different app (not GoodReader) or on a computer, just to verify if it is corrupt or not?

      Best,
      Alfons

Hi Alfons, thanks for your reply. I cannot open the zip file to see the contents nor can I open it in another app. I was able to email it, save the draft email, and then open the draft email using the iPad email app. From there, I was able to pass it to GoodReader, but GoodReader was not able to open the zip file.

Interestingly, I have synchronised my notebooks to my iPhone and the same archive works perfectly on the iPhone Notebooks app.
