Notebooks 8.7.3 further improves compatibility with iOS 11, brings a couple of refinements for drag & drop on iPads, and addresses a few issues.

  • Timestamps appear in user’s selected language again.
  • You can drag and drop multiple documents from Notebooks into other apps.
  • Refined handling of items dropped into Notebooks (including a wider variety of accepted document types).
  • Improved drag and drop into plain text documents.
  • When sharing URLs from other apps, Notebooks uses the first line of a given description as title. This makes it easy to give URLs useful names.
  • Fixed a crash when taking photos and automatically adding them to the Camera Roll.

That is already there. On an iPad, it is part of the standard keyboard, but on all devices you find undo as part of the extra keyboard buttons; you need to swipe to the last set of buttons.

We have been waiting for Search and Replace for a long time. When will it be available?

I know, the Replace function really seems like a missing link. It is not something to add in a couple of hours, but we have that on our todo list for the next major release. So let’s keep our fingers crossed 🙂

    In other words:

Using the on-screen keyboard, press the bottom left key that is labeled “.?123” (and of course without the quotes). Then look up just one row and one key to the right of that key and the UNDO key should be shown. To get the REDO key just press the key “#+=“ and you should then be able to toggle between UNDO and REDO. You can also use swipe gestures I believe as the previous poster explained.

Any chance of getting a link to the NotebooksApp document file name in Dropbox as a link in the document’s info panel? Then you could copy that link and paste it into other apps.

      Hi Bill,

thank you for your suggestion. Providing the Dropbox link to a document sounds like a good idea. We’ll put that on our todo list and see what we can do.

I’ve been having some issues with the ‘jump to home’ button since it’s been transferred to pressing and holding the ‘<Back' button (from pressing and holding the title). I like that I no longer accidentally scroll up if my touch screen interprets the action incorrectly, but I can hold the back button indefinitely *in* a document and nothing happens (Works fine in the folder structure, however). Hold for home (while in a document) was one feature I used consistently since some of my files are deep in folders. I hope this makes a return in a future update!

      Hi Mason,

that ‘jump to home’ by holding the Back button is supposed to work in documents as well (on iPhones or on iPads with column view turned off). I know that the “gesture recognizers” can be a bit tricky at times, so what if you terminate Notebooks from the multitasking view and reopen it? Does that restore “normal” behavior?

Thanks for the response! Closing it from multitask does not affect it–I do that to clear cache relatively often as well (and have restarted the device a few times on top of that). It might be my device, though when I press and hold the button, the blue tinges to a lighter shade so it *should* be reading it correctly. I’m guessing it’s just not processing it or relaying it to the app (and if it works for others, it’s probably on my end, then)… I *do* use an iPod Touch, though for all intents and purposes that’s an iPhone, just without the monthly bill.

Would love a more functional web-clipper. The bookmarklet does not always work.
