Notebooks 4.1 for Mac
This update focuses on details that make everyday work in Notebooks smoother and more predictable. You’ll notice improvements when editing long documents, working with formatted text and Markdown, organizing books, and handling storage locations. While there are no major new features this time, many small refinements contribute to a more polished and reliable experience throughout the app.
Notebooks 4.1 is available from this website and from the Mac App Store. Users of the non-Mac App Store version can use Notebooks‘ automatic update option as well.
The Changes in Detail
Plain Text
- Typing is faster in very long documents with Markdown highlighting enabled.
- The currently edited line remains correctly centered on screen in very long documents (if enabled).
Formatted Documents
- Clicking a checkbox does not immediately switch to edit mode.
- The dialog for the “Insert HTML” action has been improved.
- The document remains properly aligned (left and top) when the window or font size change.
Markdown
- Toggling inline tasks in combined Markdown gracefully handles the case that “–>” contained in text.
Outline
- The context menu for books (right-click) includes the option to select a color label again.
- This color label avoids truncated values.
- Fixed the issue that empty books may have had an invisible title when Notebooks’ appearance was different from system appearance.
Misc
- In case that the selected storage location is unavailable when launching Notebooks, you are reliably notified, but Notebooks no longer attempts to recreate that location.
